House Marylands - Godalming, England

This project, completed in 2012 just before Riaan's return from the UK, started out as the remodelling of an existing house set in the beautiful English countryside, just outside Godalming, Surrey. During the demolition phase, a substantial portion of the existing house had collapsed due to substandard foundations, causing the project to grow into a near new build. The design of the house had to stay in keeping with the local English countryside vernacular, but the clients wanted a modern twist to the design. The end result was a new house with a distinct English country house feel, but with plenty of light, views out and a contemporary interior.
